2 x (Pair) Rare Herman Miller Vintage Original Eames Raw Umber Fiberglass Side Shell on DSW Base
A pair of Eames fiberglass shells in the very rare 'raw umber' colour (yes that's what Herman Miller called it) are just as hard to find as the legendary seafoam and are just as contemporary today as they were in the day.
These rare chairs come with a little history attached. Each still has affixed to the underneath a label of it's first and original owner, the Federal Bank & Trust of America.
The Eames shell series chairs really do not need any introduction. With early prototypes beginning in the late 1940's, production began on the Eames' dream of 'chairs for the masses' in 1950 with the arm and then the sides later in 1952/53. The original and vintage fiberglass chairs were so versatile and so modern that they only increase in popularity as the years go by.
In great original vintage condition.
The fiber shells are in great condition with no cracks, chips or defects only normal wear to be expected on 50 year old chairs with some marks etc.
The used DSW bases show no signs of such and are mostly perfect.
Eames Shell Chairs vary from 1 to 5 stars for investment. The reasons depend on so many factors but mainly the condition, the rarity of the colour, the originality of the base, the age and of course the maker are those that determine. Raw Umber is very hard to find and almost as rare as seafoam. Excellent investment for now and the future.
