Grey Herman Miller Vintage Eames Upholstered White DAR Arm Shell Chair
A beautiful bluey grey and white Herman Miller original Eames arm shell with Alexander Girard designed fabric would make a brilliant dining or lounge chair. Available on its own or as a pair; the combination of the hard-wearing grey hop-sack, striking white shell and used black DAR base means this chair will sit elegantly in any room.
The first versions of these tops were designed as early as the 1940s and once they had begun production in 1950 with the arm shells, and their popularity grew, Herman Miller with the Eames’s requested the design director, the famous Alexander Girard, to help design a wide range of upholstered coverings for the iconic shells. This particular shell is wearing a captivating bluey grey fabric seat pad complimenting its white shell and creates a truly eye-catching chair.
The hop-sack fabric is in very good condition with no lifts or tears. The shell too is in very good vintage condition with no scratches or dents. Some marks evident, but a short time cleaning will remove these.
The ‘S’ inside the circle logo indicates the shell originates from Herman Miller’s Summit Prime factory.
The Eames Shell Chairs are a much coveted design piece and their investment value is determined by many various factors. The age of the shell, its colour and condition along with the factory of origin and even the originality of the base it is sat upon all play a role. This particular top is a very unique finish and should prove to be a very respectable investment piece.
