Herman Miller Original Vintage Eames White Fiberglass Arm Rocking Chair
A vintage white Herman Miller and Eames arm shell on light wood RAR base is an undoubtable classic, fitting effortlessly into any living or dining space. The white of the shell has retained its brilliance which compliments the light runners of the RAR base it is sat upon. Whilst white is not always the first choice, the neutral finish of this shell means it will compliment any colour scheme whilst quietly being a statement piece that will easily be recognized.
The success of these chairs has been proven by the continuous production time they have seen. From their origin in the 1950s, new bases, upholstered variants and even adapted variants such as the La Fonda ensured these chairs have cemented themselves in the history books with their iconic and versatile design. Upholstered versions were introduced in the late 1950s when Alexander Girard was commissioned to help design them and new bases found their way under the shells over the many years they have been produced.
The shell is in very good vintage condition, there are no signs of chips or dents and the white has not been faded over time.
The 'C' with the star logo on the underside of the shell indicates this shell originates from Herman Miller's Cincinnati Factory.
The investment value of the shell top series depends upon many factors such as the age of the shell, the age of the base, the rarity of the shell colour, the factory of origin and, of course, the condition. Being a vintage variant in good vintage condition, this chair should prove to be a good investment piece.
