Olive Green Herman Miller Original Vintage Eames 622NS Drafting Stool
An all original, vintage Herman Miller Olive Green Eames shell chair on a drafting stool base with wonderful spider-web like fibers crisscrossing through makes a very nice piece. The deep olive green colour has not been marred by time and the original base is height adjustable to suit any desk/table.
The history of these chairs has been well versed, along with their versatility, and they are very popular today due to this. These particular examples live up to the original ambition of Charles and Ray since they are of the earlier, original production style and are still as strong as the day they were made. Older versions of the tops are denoted by their highly textured fibrous finish in the tops.
This particular piece is a rather specific article, but it is a great example of the adaptability and versatility of the Eames shell chair collection.
The side top is in good vintage condition. There are some natural marks expected with being 50+ years old present but it is good considering this.
The original base is in good vintage condition and the height adjuster still works.
The ‘S’ within the circle indicates this is a shell from Herman Miller’s Summit Plastics factory.
The investment value of the Eames’s beautiful chairs depends on many factors: the age and condition of the shell, the rarity of its colour, the age of the base and where the shell was produced. Whilst all of the shell chairs are viable investments, this particular piece rates slightly higher due to its colour and being on an original draughtsman base.
