Parchment Pair (2) Herman Miller Original Eames DSW Side Shell Chairs
A pair of much coveted original Herman Miller parchment Eames fiberglass side shells are always popular since they work effortlessly with any interior décor. These particular tops are invigorated by the used dark maple DSW bases they are sat upon. These particular versions are a slightly later version than the original 50s tops since the colour is slightly more ‘solid’ than the earlier editions, but still shows the highly fibrous finish common for the oldest tops.
The side variant of the iconic shell chairs was the second version to be produced and was done so in 1952/53. The arm shell was the first one to be produced in 1950 from the combined force of Zenith Plastics and Herman Miller. Herman Miller soon bought Zenith Plastics out leading them to continue the production of the Eames fiberglass chairs for many years afterwards.
In good condition for their age, these only display some small signs of wear natural with their age.
The ‘S’ logo tracks the shells origin to Herman Millers ‘Summit’ factory.
The Eames shells range in their investment value depending upon many factors. The condition, age, colour and even origin of the shell can affect the price of each shell. As these are one of the original colours their investment value is more reasonable than some shells and they should see a steady increase over time.
