We have 4 in stock.

Product Description

These beautifully reconditioned vintage chairs combine Herman Miller Eames DSR chairs with the amazing original fabric called 'Red Names' by Alexander Girard!

These chairs, complete with used Black DSR 'eiffel' bases are so visually stunning and a true work of art. The fabric used to give them such a gorgeous finish is an original fabric that Girard produced for Herman Miller to adorn many various designs and this particular version was available with a variety of coloured pinstripes.

The Eames shell series chairs really do not need any introduction. Early prototypes began in the late 1940's and production began on the Eames' dream of 'chairs for the masses' in 1950 with the arm and then the sides later in 1952/53. It was at this point Charles and Herman Miller approached Girard to begin designing upholstery finishes for the chairs.

Individual Characteristics

The fiber shells are in great vintage condition with no cracks, chips or defects.

The Alexander Girard fabric for Herman Miller is in a great condition with no defects and no lifting.

Investment Details

Eames Shell Chairs vary from 1 to 5 stars for investment. The reasons depend on so many factors but mainly the condition, the rarity of the colour, the originality of the base, the age and of course the maker are those that determine. Excellent examples of a lovely combination such as these represent a good value investment.
