Walnut Fritz Hansen Original Arne Jacobsen Series 7 Plywood Chair
Arne Jacobsen’s Series 7 is arguably the most popular chair for Fritz Hansen. Stackable and multifunctional, its original design means it can be used anywhere. The chair has been made with multiple bases, a variety of colours, with arms and with various upholstery finishes. Designed from molded and pressed plywood veneer, the chair used the lamination technique perfected by Søren C. Hansen, the grandson of Fritz Hansen, in the 1920s and 1930s.
The chair became popular thanks to a revealing image released of the chair being used by Christine Keeler, wearing nothing at all, who was a famous model of the era. The chair used in the picture was a copy, but it helped propel the sales of the original version which has reached well over 5 million to date.
A modern original, this particular chair is in good condition for its age. The walnut finish is in great condition with no scratches or dents.
The logo on the underside indicates this particular chair is a more modern version from Fritz Hansen.
Being such a popular chair, there are many to be found. The originals, of course, are fetching higher asking prices due to their age but to own one of these iconic chairs is no mean feat. This item is a premium wood finish but a newer example so does not rate very highly, but it should improve with age.
